They do look their best this way, and often show colors and depth that is not apparent in inferior lighting. The problem is, most often the beads are worn and handled indoors. Many people have been surprised and disappointed when the colors and patterns that look so bold and bright in the photo appear faded and dull when they receive them, so I feel it is more realistic to photograph them under normal incandescent lighting.
